Call For Abstracts

Abstract submissions open: 19 May 2026
Abstract submissions close: 30 June 2026
Presenters required to register for ISHCA26: 30 September 2026

There will be 2 presentation formats at ISHCA26:

1. Oral presentation
12 min presentation plus 3 min Q&A (15 minute total duration).

2. Poster presentation
Posters will be available for all attendees to view throughout the duration of the conference. 

When you submit your abstract online, please choose your preference to be considered for an oral or poster presentation. Spaces are limited, and abstracts not selected for oral presentations may be offered a poster presentation. Abstracts from students, clinicians, and early- and mid-career researchers (EMCRs) are strongly encouraged.

Speaker guidelines will be provided closer to the date.

The ISHCA26 Scientific Program Committee welcomes submissions from a broad range of health-related disciplines that describe high quality methodological research that progresses the field of implementation science and research translation, as well as implementation practice projects that showcase application of research evidence in health-related settings.  

We also encourage submissions from early career researchers and clinicians new to implementation.

Abstracts are particularly encouraged to align with, but are not limited to, any innovation, implementation and/or impact in the following topics:   

• Designing digital health or AI for implementation in complex systems 
• Implementation practice workforce capacity within health services
• Research translation in regional, rural or remote Australia 
• When implementation doesn’t go to plan: failures, adaptations, and lessons learned 
• Co-design and engagement 
• Implementation trials: Integrating implementation science into clinical trial design 
• De-implementation and value-based healthcare.

All abstracts will be peer-reviewed by specialists in the fields of implementation science, research translation, and implementation practice in the health sector. The type of presentation offered is at the discretion of the Program Committee.

The decision of the committee is final, and no correspondence will be entered into regarding programming decisions. 

Accepted oral abstracts will be published.

As part of your submission, you will be asked to indicate on behalf of all authors your consent to publication of your abstract if it is accepted as an oral presentation in the program.

Conference registration is not required on abstract submission; however, presenting authors will be required to register for the conference by 30 September 2026.

Registrations will open in June.

A limited number of travel bursaries will be available to support attendance at the conference. Bursary amounts and number of awards will be determined based on available funding and applicant need.

Eligibility criteria: 

• Live and work in regional, rural, or remote locations, or
• Are clinicians new to implementation science and/or practice, or
• Are higher degree research students or early career researchers (<5 years post‑PhD, excluding periods of career interruption )

Priority will be given to applicants who:

• Demonstrate financial or institutional barriers to attendance
• Can articulate how attending/contributing will benefit their work, community, or field
